This theory that if AI becomes sufficiently advanced and cheap, company productivity will go up and they will in fact need to hire more people because of it is completely false.

Let’s be clear. If an AI is developed that is equal to a human in intelligence and cheaper than a human to employ capitalism in general is impacted in a major way.
If that happens just pray that robotics doesn’t become sufficiently advanced such that jobs requiring crafting or manual work doesn’t get replaced.
Also to be clear I’m not advocating or saying whether or not any of these things will happen. I am simply saying that hypothetically if AI progresses in a certain way then the following consequence is inevitable.
