For sending messages, does it take a long time to get the first check mark, or the second? The first is shown when your message is delivered to WhatsApp, the second when the recipients device receives it (assuming they don't disable it for privacy).



No, not China or any other country that restricts WhatsApp. Both checkmarks appear quite promplty but the receivers actually see the message much later. I have experienced this more in group chats (5-10), where two people sitting under the same roof using different mobile OSes receive messages minutes apart, sometimes even 15-20 minutes.

That sounds like a very serious bug that should be reported. Can you reproduce it regularly?

But if you're just talking about notifications appearing later, that's quite common in smartphones (due to power saving).


Agreed, that doesn't match the docs
