I submitted this link because I realized I was browsing dang's comment feed frequently, having found it both intellectually engrossing and a pleasing read.
There are the occasional mini-essays where dang conveys philosophical tenets he's refined and polished over many years. Reading these is similar to reading the New Yorker profile from a couple years back in terms of understanding dang's vision and meditations on how we communicate.
There is also the humdrum work of moderation, which is in some sense repetitive and you might expect to be the least interesting. But dang is so good at it, so adept at handling whatever gets thrown his way, witnessing those exchanges is like watching a master artisan at work.
I'm not sure posting this will lead to a productive discussion, because there are lots of contentious issues around moderation. But from my perspective, the way in which dang fields those issues is fascinating.
