Wow. Is this the attitude that people in SV usually have/tolerate towards women? No wonder there are so many complaints. Somehow 'doing difficult programming jobs' entitles you to act shabbily towards women? And somehow she needs to be thankful for all this? Wow, just wow.
This is naive. Do you not realize that Edison was an engineer? Just because he had a workshop of people (not so different from having a team of engineers) doesn't mean he didn't create tons of experiments.
Has some truth to it IMHO. :) Whenever you hear people go on about how innovation is such a social endeavour and how nobody really invented anything you can be sure about one thing: that the author hasn't even tried inventing anything.
That's alright, as an Indian I support this action, and am ready to face the consequences. After all, we have 'socialist' in the constitutional definition of the republic. It's about time we invoked it for a good cause once in a while.
As far as a historical account is concerned, you're more correct, but not entirely so. Suetonius mentions that some claim Julius Caesar uttered those words as he died, however his ultimate conclusion was that Caesar, in fact, uttered nothing in death. Plutarch, the other relavant historical account of what happened, came to the same conclusion.
I'd have to say that they're probably right, or are at least in a better position to say what happened than us ;)
We have pretty quaint notions about FDI. Foreign capital is always looked at with distrust (at least by the older set of politicians) so there is a lot of political hand-wringing about how allowing 100% FDI in retail will destroy small traders, etc. Of course, this stance is also encouraged by food suppliers/speculators, so this will take some time to work itself out. But most people say allowing 100% FDI in retail is only a few months away. So Amazon might just be preparing ground for a eventual entry.
