I don't really like how western governments are coordinating all these massive law changes together. Something distinctly sinister about it.

Amen to that.

I don't think Europe and the US share enough values to do it on a lot of fronts, so perhaps that will shield me as an American.

But it seems like a lot of that coming down the hatch for most of Europe.

It’s governments with similar cultures and practices, all tackling a relatively new phenomenon.

Coming up with similar laws could just be convergent evolution rather than coordination.

You also can’t discount that once one country has tried it others that we’re considering similar legislation are much more likely to take the plunge if the outcomes in the first country aren’t negative

You notice that now? Remember 2020-2022?

something sinister in the masses of misinformation, especially political/social that takes place in those spaces too.

Sounds like you'll have problems sourcing NATO national IDs in St. Petersburg to create fake accounts.

Last time I used deliveroo I got a spam/scam phone call 20 minutes later. I presume the drivers sell customer names, addresses, and phone numbers.

These apps don't usually give the driver or restaurant access to the customer's phone number.

They use a proxy system where the driver has to call a standard number provided by the app and then input a code to identify the specific customer.

That's typically only available while the order is in progress.

Do you know for sure that's the case for deliveroo?

Yes.

I have been called by a variety of restaurants and drivers 7 times since March 2023 while using Deliveroo - who all came through the same London phone number.

I don't even live in London.

A search online for the number (020 3871 3395) shows that others have been called by both drivers and restaurants on this number. [1]

How does the fact that you can't see their number imply that they can't see your number?

Because a very few rich people are eating all the pies.

Why break your back when the prospect of owning your own home is so remote? Better to drop out.

Not sure if related but back in the day there was an aleph null associated with ADOM https://web.archive.org/web/19990428120058/http://www.aleph-...

It's called virtue signalling

Except those are actual holidays, where schools and shops close. See the difference?
