We use GCP Cloud Build for most of our CI needs, and then Argo and Kargo to deploy things.

Cloud Build is generally pretty straight forward to use and we rarely have to mess with pipelines after initial setup. It's easy to make new images with any tools you need for your build process.

Triggers and repo connections are a little annoying to setup, but if you get a little terraform module set up it's not too bad.

They're owned by Mercedes, I'm sure they probably have access to the capital they need.

Perhaps in contrast the president of Princeton was a Rhodes scholar and clerked for a Supreme Court justice before going to teaching and administration.

Yeah, Princeton seems to have a record of choosing more academically accomplished faculty to serve as president. My point is that that's not really typical.

Establishing a legal route to train LLMs on copywriten content could certainly have a chilling affect on the progress of science and useful arts... Why would someone devote their life to their studies or craft when they know that an LLM will hoover it up and start plagiarizing it immediately?

The vast majority of quality art and is produced by people who do it because they want to create art, not for money, and most artists earn little.

Even if that is the case, plenty of art is made with the hope or dream that people will find it worth paying for, and there are many people out there who do in fact fully support themselves doing creative work. Having the copyright to that work is foundational to even be able to consider that possibility at all.

I'm not sure that's actually true, even though we hear it often. The artists I know (about a dozen) are all trying to figure out how to make _more_ money from their art so that they can continue making their art

Artists getting paid little is a function of how easy it is to capture the value that artists create, and how willing other people are to do that capturing - not how valuable their work is. Artists definitely want to get paid and do not want to live on scraps for "passion's" sake. This is the entire argument for copyright existing in the first place, even though current copyright law has flaws.

This was announced in April, and this is the second time in two days I've seen people reposting it. What gives?

Space is extremely dope and we are nerds.

Sure they do, Ford released the 2022 Fords the year after the 2021s.

Is the Ford Focus newer than the Ford Escort?

New York State does not require permits for long guns, NYC has more stringent licensing though.

Should have spent more time researching!

Search for "all quotas" in the GCP console, from there you can view all your quotas and request increases.

Right. Unfortunately their right to request increases was removed. The exact wording: “Based on your service usage history you are not eligible for quota increase at this time” and then dead ends trying to reach someone.

They had billing accounts set up for all their projects. They were happy to hand over money but had no ability to.

And even if I can get what I need via CLI it's nice that higher level people in the org can click around and get what they need without having to bother me to retrieve the data for them.

family farm becomes a different thing when you start milking 1100 cows, it's usually a few of the family working with several undocumented immigrants. I live in upstate NY also tho our family sold the farm a couple of decades ago.

The farm we used to own has gone towards organic milk to get a premium for their product, and the family that bought it now relies heavily on undocumented immigrants.

America relies heavily undocumented immigrants, from dairy to produce farm ag to meat processing to restaurants to landscaping.

An open secret is that ICE doesn't touch meat ag's workers except for token enforcement. It's a dangerous occupation that includes underage child labor, deaths, and amputations without a social security net.

If its an open secret (like the open mystery in Ephesians 3:9,10), can you provide some sources to substantiate your claim? Thanks!

An open secret is something which is widely known to be true amongst people, but which is denied officially, for that very reason, providing sources is more usually than not possible for an open secret.

I have no idea if an open secret is like the open mystery of Ephesians 3:9,10.

Indeed. That seems like a loaded cultural reference point considering the majority of the world (including Christendom) do fine not keeping up with bronze age letters as jargon. Maybe they mean an open secret like the Panama papers?

Your definition of an open secret is the best I've ever read, thx.

As a person of faith, the reference listed above was in poor taste. Scripture should never be used in cryptic ways.

This is the literal definition of an open secret: https://twitter.com/neeneinnyetno/status/1655217749495361536. It is common knowledge, even in the deep midwest where I am, that there is no construction happening anywhere which doesn't have a large undocumented labor component.

What is “ag”?

A common abbreviation for agriculture.

This comment lacks sources and has a biased tone.
