We have a Thermomix TM31 which I repaired a few weeks ago. On the control board I found an IR module and a LED beside that which both are visible from outside (left side of the display), but are not labled. Until now I couldn't find any documentation or information about this IR interface. It would be nice if someone will reverse engineer this. And maybe also an integration into the BSH-App. Then you could remotely start the cooking process when leaving the office... :-)

"Also, depending on the ingredient, it makes more sense to use cups as a measurement of volume, not mass, when converting to metric."

Hmmm... What kind of cup? :-)

US "legal" cup (240ml)

US customary cup (246,6ml)

metric cup (250ml)

UK cup (170,5ml)

edit: fixed typo 150ml -> 250ml

Not sure where that 150ml came from - our metric country (New Zealand) 1 cup is 250 ml.

Thanks, I mistyped. I meant 250 ml.

Or UK Breakfast cup (227,3ml)

No! It's not bizarre.

Scroll down to the footer--> click on "Homepage"

Then you will get to his homepage: https://www.brocas.org/

teeny tiny link at the bottom, oy. A site almost totally free of context. No date on the post, even. In the context of how history/journalism of this sort is normally delivered, it is absolutely bizarre.

Ironic that someone specializing in security doesn't understand how to make their information trustworthy. But I suppose it's easier and more fun to try and understand machines than other human beings.

I wish restaurants would just make a homepage with menu _and_ opening hours.

In my area most restaurants have no website.

If they have a website it's often very hard to find their opening hours. Under 'contact'? Nope! At the footer? Nay! Maybe somewhere hidden in the menu PDF? With luck... Outside their homepage at google maps? Maybe. On their Tripadvisor page? Hahaha! Funny! Not.

The product was made by people. Or by AI which was made and controlled by people.

Only if everybody is closing the door. If I use a hotel room alone, I never close the bathroom door.

You don't close the door when doing number two in your own home either?

If you are alone at home, why would you?

If you don't feel disgusted by the idea of your poop particles being ejected and spreading around, I don't think anyone can instill it in you

How much does the door help? I think generally people don't follow hygiene to the point that particles anywhere in the bathroom won't get tracked out of the bathroom. Don't get me started on people who touch their phones while eating...

I'm writing this while sitting on the toilet, and I'm thinking about making a sandwich.

A bit, and it's not like it's too much of a hassle

People often keep their toothbrushes in their bathroom..

tbh if I start worrying about poop particles in my day to day, I fear I'm one step closer to becoming a germaphobe. plus I feel if that's something that truly worries you, you'd start taking showers after each poop because clearly you will bring some poop particles with you when you leave anyway.

maybe this thread will end up being some kind of revelation, but I very much agree with the person you replied to. If I'm alone, I'm not bothered and the door may as well stay open

Sure, you can't get rid of everything. But you can mitigate a few things, and closing the door is such an easy fix... There's worrying too much, and there's not worrying enough

So that poop particles didn't spread beyond the bathroom.

Very good post, thank you!

Partially OT:

Can anyone recommend a "print PDF to Laserprinter" library?

I have been looking for a library for C# for some time now that would allow me to print PDF files on a laser printer programmatically. However, I cannot find one. Until now, I have been using Foxit Reader, which I call up via the command line. But this is not ideal for various reasons.

Do you know what Foxit Reader does for the "printing" part? Does it convert it to XPS or PS?

No

Thank you!

Will it be possible to document private repositories? And how can we prevent Google from using the code to train its AI?

Does anyone know of any trustworthy, usable alternatives? Perhaps even ones that run 100% on-premises?
